Paula Young - A Holistic Therapist

We chat with Paula Young from Angelic Healing Therapies about her holistic treatments and the importance of meditation and spirituality as a life practice. Paula has a salon at Copperfields in an Independent Living Home in Ramsgate where she practices all her groups, workshops and treatments.

Do you believe we ALL arrive on this earth with a predestined purpose, unique to each of us?

An unequivocal yes. In my belief, our purpose is already written and when that page is turned we live it out. We learn a lot from life experiences and hopefully become wiser as we go along. Prior to our birth, we have already agreed or decided that we will come here - and I feel we even choose our parents and the people around us that are of influence.

We come into this world with different circumstances that are already set out and as time goes on we experience them. Of course, at times it will come down to free will and choices and how we decide to learn and gain knowledge from them. Our reaction to these lessons and experiences is extremely impactful on how we evolve. If we learn from them, hopefully we won’t keep coming back and can move on to the next stage. If we don’t learn, we could potentially stay stuck for a long while.

In your experience, do you feel most people are able to achieve (or are even aware of) their life purpose?

There are some people who are aware of their purpose and I think they are able to achieve this with the right focus and dedication. However, I don’t believe that there are many that realize their full potential or even know how to go about reaching this. With the right guidance and seeking, certain things will come into awareness, if the person is open to this.

How did your own spirituality develop over the years?

I was fortunate enough to have a mother who was spiritual. I had certain experiences as a child, and particularly as a teenager, that were pretty extraordinary. I was able to tell my mother about these experiences, who would in turn be able to reassure me, explain what was happening and basically remove any fear that I could have had. I was able to understand what was happening and therefore was no longer afraid.

My mother encouraged my spirituality very much, and having someone who understood what was happening to me made it extremely comfortable for me to communicate and promote my experiences openly.

As a teenager, I joined a spiritual development and meditation group. Here I was able to meet like-minded souls of my age, and this too helped encourage my spiritual growth. I have also completed many spiritual weekends - conferences, retreats, and numerous courses on various modalities such as angel card reading, all of which enhanced my natural gifts.

I am currently doing a 2-year shamanic healing course, and I am always on the lookout for courses that are in line with my beliefs and practices. All these learning experiences helped me develop and grow my innate spirituality.

What life incidents led you to become the holistic healer you are today?

When I left school, I went to college full-time to study hairdressing and beauty. I qualified in 1995. I was more drawn to the beauty side of things than to hairdressing. I then married and had two boys and was a stay at home mum for a few years. When the kids started school I would do mobile beauty treatments for family and friends.

I also enrolled in a business course which taught skills such as creating a business plan and how to run a business etc…which provided a startup grant at the end of the course if you submitted a business plan. I was also given the opportunity to spend a couple of weeks in the US where I deepened my business acumen.

However, in addition to all the courses that I have completed throughout my life, I would probably say that life experience is the most beneficial to achieving one's full potential. After divorcing my husband, I had to bring up my two boys single handedly, which was challenging (they both had disabilities). We moved house and in this new house there was a room that I was able to use as a treatment room. This is where it all began.

What healing modalities do you offer your clients?

When I moved house and at this stage in my life, I realized I wanted to be a holistic healer. I wanted to combine my spiritual beliefs with alternative therapies to help heal people naturally. Now people could come to me and I could assess what's best for them and lead them to the right course of treatment. I look at the mind, body and spirit ie the whole person.

I looked for alternative courses to add to the qualifications I already had: Aromatherapy, Bach Flower Remedies, Reiki healing, Crystal Healing, Color healing, Chakra healing, Naturopathy, Homeopathy, Herbalism, mindfulness and meditation courses…to name a few. I am a Zephorium therapist and stockist. I believe very much in the Zephorium products because they work alongside the chakras, and are totally natural and organic.

In essence, I am very passionate about wanting to help people improve their lives and wellbeing and reaching their full potential.

How important is meditation in your life and what role does it play?

Meditation is essential, for me personally. If you can’t manage to do it every day, then I recommend at least once a week even if with a group, so as to relax, relieve stress, help you connect with Source and help you to focus. It also helps you connect with your angels and spirit guides and friends and families who have passed.

One can meditate to whatever level they feel comfortable with. Those with spiritual beliefs want to connect with Source. This is the ultimate goal, to raise your energies to a level where things happen without you trying to make them happen - you are in alignment if what you are giving out is what you are getting back. Meditation allows you to strengthen your natural gifts (clairvoyance, clairaudience, clairsentience, claircognizance) - it allows you to practice what you preach.

Is meditation an inevitable practice if one aspires to connect fully with the Universe?

I definitely recommend meditation for whatever reason. I think some people can connect fully if they are gifted. It’s like everything. Some people are more natural at certain things but for the majority of people, and like for any skill, you have to practice to make perfect.

What advice do you have for our readers - perhaps a daily ritual or some words of wisdom pertaining to a happier life..?

Learn to love yourself in a healthy way using mirror work, affirmations, using a gratitude journal and practicing daily meditations or weekly meditations within a group to connect with like-minded souls.

I think that some people are more sensitive to energy than others, and for those I would say - protect your energy. Reduce watching or reading negative stories or being drawn into dramas, set healthy boundaries, be mindful of your thoughts that may come from negative beliefs, which may or may not be your own.

Go easy on yourself, be kind, use your creative gifts, follow your passion and do things that make you happy. Believe in yourself and your own abilities and be around people that support and help you to be the best that you can.
